About me
I grew up in rural Western Massachusetts where most of my time was given over to youth athletics. I was a competitive ski racer on the icy hills of the Berkshire mountains, where I learned early on that the inability to master my inner world held me back far more than physical skill.
After college and medical school in New York, I was ready for more expansive landscapes. I came to the Bay Area to train in psychiatry at UCSF and to be where the action was in terms of psychedelic research and practice. During my residency, I trained in various modes of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and completed a two-year program in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis. Following residency, I fed my curiosity in functional and integrative medicine through a 1-year fellowship with the Integrative Psychiatry Institute based in Boulder, CO.
Over time in my psychiatry and therapy practice, I noticed in myself a natural pull to discuss the working lives of my patients and clients. Work is a rich canvas for personal growth, an arena in which we're confronted by our personal blind spots and pulled to meet our natural yearnings for creativity, leadership, and self-actualization. To fully support my clients' needs, I created a coaching practice where I help high performers who want to magnify their impact while living with high integrity.
Eight years after heading West, California remains a rich terrain for personal exploration and growth. I live in West Marin County with my spouse and our growing family. I devote most of my free time to reading, writing, contemplating, and moving my body outdoors.
