Mental Health Offerings

  • An approach that includes and builds upon the standard psychiatry model. I emphasize the importance of lifestyle, habits, and nutrition. Treatment often involves lab testing as well as herbal and nutraceutical supplementation. When indicated, I do make judicious use of prescription medications. Referrals may be made for more advanced functional medicine lab testing or other complementary modalities.

I welcome a full range of presenting concerns and goals into my practice, though I typically fit best with people seeking a holistic model of care. I am comfortable working with patients whose aims include the reduction or avoidance of prescription medications. I am available for long term ongoing treatment as well as time-limited or second opinion consultations.

  • The backbone of my therapeutic approach was developed during my time in SFCP's Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Training Program. I place an emphasis on the impact of traumatic experiences and the formative influence of early childhood development. My style is informed by my training in the field of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapies and the spiritual and psychotherapeutic traditions that have coalesced therein.

  • KAP is a subdomain within the broader arena of therapeutic ketamine in psychiatry. In KAP, the non-ordinary state of consciousness occasioned by ketamine is leveraged to facilitate the work of depth psychotherapy. In this context I hold ketamine as a prescribable consciousness-altering substance akin to (but distinct from) other psychedelics currently only legally available in the research domain. Ketamine is administered sublingually or via intramuscular injection.

While clinical trials are under way that demonstrate significant promise for KAP, the use of ketamine for mental health conditions is considered an off-label and experimental treatment without final FDA approval. Prior to engaging in this work, you will receive a full advisement and consent form outlining the benefits and risks of KAP.

  • I've trained in the therapeutic use of various psychedelic compounds and am certified as a MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) MDMA therapist. While I am not able to provide psychedelic therapies other than KAP in my practice, I offer consultation services to patients or other professionals wishing to better understand this evolving field. For those who are considering the use of these substances I am glad to provide information surrounding the known risks and potential benefits. I also offer psychotherapeutic integration services for those seeking support in the wake of past psychedelic experiences.

Please note that I do not encourage or facilitate the violation of any law, including the acquisition, distribution, or sale of any illegal psychedelic substance.
